Curacao Trip

Ahoy!!
We arrived in Spanish Waters Bay, Curacao Thursday evening at 6PM sailing 499 NM. It was a terrific sail with sunny days, 20 knots winds, full moon during the night and the third day averaged 8 knots. We anchored in the bay Thursday night until the Sera Boca Marina opened the next morning. Friday was a full day with customs and immigrantion registeration which proved to be challenging and clean up the Bozo Cinq preparing it for a few months of rest. Admiral Joanne and crew member-Gary Allen both hooked a Mahi, Mahi making is a real challenge landing both fish at the same time with Bozo Cinq churning thru the water at 7 plus knots on a 20 degree heel. They were 42 & 44 inches long that weight a ton! We will send pictures when we get back to Dallas late Saturday evening June 2. The location coordinates are Latitude 12. 04.0000N and Longitude 68.40.0000W.

We moored next to a couple from Seattle that have been in Curacao for the last six months. However, he still travel back to Seattle regular for work while the Mrs. stayed in Curacao. In August they are heading for some islands just off the Panama Coast then up the central American coast to Belize. This should take about a year or so to accomplish.

It was tough to leave paradise! We are really looking forward to the day that it becomes a full time home.

Sail from Saint Marten Curacao

Everyone:

This is a much shorter sail than the last time. We're moving the boat from Saint Marteen to Curacao, where the boat will stay for the hurriane season.

We left Saint Marteen Monday night at 5:30 pm and started the sail across the gulf, a couple of minor problems delayed or departue. The weather has been beautiful, we're sailing tonight under sunny skys and traveling at 7-8 knots. Today we had dolphins swiming at the bow of the boat twice, the first time we had about 3 dozen swiming and jumping, then the second batch played for amost 30 minutes. Wow..

Our locaton tonight is 16 degrees 05 north and 65 degrees 05 west. Our sail should take us 3 days at this speed, so we should arrive in our winter home sometime Thursday evening. Captain Bozo is 100% percent in control and loving it, he's trying and testng everthing on the boat. As usual Admiral Joanne is in awe. We fly back to Dallas late Saturday evening.

Atlantic Crossing III

Yesterday was Valentines Day (my birthday) and Gary asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I told him I wanted to see the porpoises, not more than an hour later they were swimming along side the boat. Captain Bob also offered to make me birthday dinner of pressure cooker stew and homemade bread. What a day!

BozoCinq has traveled 1456 nautical miles from LaRochelle, France to Las Palmas (Canary Islands) and then 2895 nautical miles from Las Palmas to Saint Marteen. Total 4351 nautical miles. We haven't seen a ship, not even on radar for the last 15 days.
This morning we had a squall with a heavy rain but it left behind the most beautiful rainbow I've ever seen. Our location today is 18 degree's North an 55 degree's West. Only 3 more days until we reach our final destination. We should get to Saint Marteen Sunday Feb 18h very early in the morning.

Atlantic Crossing II

Everyone:
We got wind....so we're back to 8-9 knots. Yesterday I caught my first fish aboard BozoCinq, it was a Mahi Mahi widely known as dolphin or dorado, and was about 25 inches long an 15 lbs
So last night was fish dinner..it was great. Yesterday we also saw our first rainbow over the ocean. We know we're getting close to land since we're seeing Sargasso weed
floating by. Our location is 18 degree's North and 50 degree's West, so looks like we'll
arrive in Saint Marteen the 17th or 18th. Hopefully I'll make my flight and Gary will have to stay for a few days and close up the boat.

Windless again

The wind has totally died down and we've been motoring all day, can you believe it? Today while having coffee, latté and scones for breakfast we watched fly fish jumping all around, wow what a site. Then late this afternoon we caught a 46 inch, 35 pound Yellowjack, wow...what a catch, guess what's for dinner tomorrow. We also saw our first real sunrise since all the mornings have been overcast and a little cloudy. Our location is 18degree's North and 45 degree's West. Hopefully the wind gods we be with us tomorrow.

First Fish

Everyone:
Sorry we had some email problem so our first messages all went together finally.

So lets start fresh, we're on Day 6 from the Canary Islands to Saint Marteen and finally we have had good wind for over 48 hours straight. We have also had sun every day, our worst problem is not enough short sleeve shirts. We caught our first fish trolling yesterday, a Yellowjack, a perfect dinner with rice and homemade bread. It only took us 4 days of fishing to catch a fish, thank goodness we're' not depending on fishing for survival. Today we had our first flying fish hop on for a short ride. Its really dark out here but fortunately the full moon has helped
We're at 20 degrees North and 31 degrees West and its smooth sailing.

Porpoises are distracting

Captain Bozo is sending this update because Admiral Joanne to busy out on the bow talking to the her Porpoises friends that are swimming along side BozoCinq. We are 3 days 17 hours since leaving Las Palmas-586 nm. - for those plotting this on a map - the co-ordinates are 22.39 N-Latitude, 24.43W Longitude. So far the seas have been calm with sunny days and the last two nights with a full moon.

Carnary Island - Replacing Parts

After spending 10 days in Las Palmas, Grand Carnary Island relaxing and get some defective parts replace-It is 3PM Las Palmas time and we are heading out of the harbour setting course for St. Marrten in the Carribean. For the first 900 nautical miles (nm) we are heading SW passing with in 200 nm of the Cape Verde Islands. Then we head due west across the Atlantic to St. Marrten-2000nm. We estimate a 15 to 18 days at sea with expected arrival around Feb. 15 to 17th.

Ok guys I am leaving tomorrow morning for my Ocean Voyage across the Atlantic. I fly to the Canary Islands to meet Gary and we’ll sail across the ocean in Bozo Cinq. We are plan to leave Monday Jan 29th sailing from The Canary Islands to Saint Maarten, the voyage should take us 16-19 days.

I am planning to e-mail you all on our location and events when possible. I can receive short or important e-mails, but primarily I just want to let you know I’m ok and where we are.

When we get back I’ll have lots of pictures and stories to tell I’m sure.

Its Sunday evening & we're in the Canary Islands

Gary is really enjoying the two guys he's sailing with, Captain Bob and another Gary, he's learning a lot from both of them since they've had many years of sailing experience.

Gary told me they have "a meal program, everyone fetches their own breakfast usually cereal, the main meal is around 1 or 2, then in the evening everyone just has a snack of anything from leftovers to sandwiches in which we usually help ourselves." So they might be happy to have me aboard even if I'm not the best sailor and have a ton to learn at least I can cook, I made chocolate chip cookies to take over to bribe them.

I leave Saturday January 27th to meet them in the Canary Islands. I'm really excited and not even a little nervous about the sail across.

The furling headsail broke down so we had to have one shipped to the Canary Islands, hopefully that will be installed this weekend.

I arrive on Sunday and will shop for food so we can leave for the sail across the ocean Monday January 29th.

We have also changed plans and are taking the boat into Saint Maarten and will leave it there for a unknown period of time.

As Gary says we are learning that one thing is certain, things will change so be flexible

No Wind and Sunset

I fell like I'm in a power boat no wind, we have been motoring all but 8 hours of the trip from France but there is never a dull moment and constantly learning and experiencing some little thing. I am ecstatic about it

Motored into Peniche, Portugal around 9:30 pm, the past couple of days were smooth sea's, easy motoring unlike the first 3 days of getting knocked around. My first full nights sleep since we left France.

Half way thru the Bay of Biscay, less than 5 knots of wind, so far we have been under power 30 hours, I am anxious to start sailing
