Somes Sound Inlet

Somes Sound is a fjord, about 4.5 miles long and .2 miles wide located in Mount Desert Island.The sound is between steep rocky shores and has a narrow entrance. It is the only fjord in the US. We anchored at the far end of Somes Sound in Somes Harbor. The first settlers in 1613 created the first settlement on Mount Desert Island, Somesville. The scenery is spectator and we spent 3 days exploring around the Harbor in a beautiful setting with gorgeous sun sets.

We also found time to do a 3 mile hike up Mount Arcadia Mountain, what an awesome hike.
