Arrived in Dominica on 6/8/14 at 12:00 pm. had an awesome sail from St Pierre, Martinique to Dominica. Maybe the best ever. We're staying in Roseau, Dominica at Sea Cat's. Sea Cat is our local tour guide and he aslo has great mooring buoys. Dominica became an independent nation with a population of 70,000. It is called the "Green Globe" by the locals due to its spectacular, lush, and varied flora and fauna.
Today we hiked to Victoria Falls which was awesome (see picture below). Along the way Sea Cat helped us enjoy all the fruits of the island (grapefruit, passion, guava, chestnuts, sea cherry, mango, papaya)and even some moonshine.
We also did Emerald Pools:
We hiked to Boiling Lake (the trail is officially 8 miles to the lake, wow)! Boiling Lake is approximately 200 feet across and 95 feet deep and as you can see is boiling in the center.
Along the way to Boiling Lake we went thru the Valley of Desolation and Sea Cat our Tour Guide had brought along eggs which he put in a pocket of boiling water in the valley and so we enjoyed "hard boiled eggs" on our trip. Then he painted our faces with sulfur. Then on the way home we stopped for a spa. See pictures below:
