Heading for Canouan....Arrived in Charlestown, the village Charlestown was founded after a devastating hurricane destroyed the orgianl Settlement on the Atlantic side in 1921.
Canouan (pronounced "can - ah - wan") is an island in the Grenadines Islands belonging to St Vincent. It is a small island, measuring only 3.5 miles by 1.25 miles. The population is about 1,200 people.
A
barrier reef runs along the
Atlantic side of the island. The highest point on the island is Mount Royal. 1/2 of the island is privately owned by the Canouan Resort Company and is restricted to Resort guests only. The resort has a 18 hole Golf coarse.
This island just like Mustique sends anyone who commits a crime off the island so the island is almost crime free. Again like Mustique there is only one primary school so once children reach secondary age they have to go to St Vincent to boarding school. .
We moored in Grace Bay with a beautiful beach and bar!!!
