7/2 Arrived and anchored in Admiralty Bay, got a mooring buoy at Daffodil Marine. Dinner at Mac's Pizza Monday night.
7/3 Took a 3 hour tour with Gideons Taxi (Jenson Gideon's son). Toured the whole island in 3 hours. Saw Fort Hamilton, Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary, Friendship Bay, Whaling Museum (Bequia is one of the few places in the world where limited whaling is still allowed by the International Whaling Commission. Native Bequia are allowed to catch up to four humpback whales per year using only traditional hunting methods of hand-thrown harpoons in small, open sailboats. The limit is rarely met, with no catch some years but they have caught all 4 in 2013), Mount Pleasant and Admiralty Bay. Great tour. A couple of pictures below:
